Bee Jan 17 JLF

we are putting together the second edition of a fabulous show during the Literature Festival, Bee’17. The world comes to jaipur during those 5 days and we want to present interesting options for them for when they are away from the festival grounds.

We wanted to share the ethos of putting together a show like this. We are both artists who enjoy creating experiences as much as the installations that we do. Transient and ephemeral, these shows attract more than just art appreciators, it is the shoppers, the casual lunch people, a glass of wine people who all come for different reasons but then are affected by the arts and artistry.

The first edition of the Bee was held at the Narain Niwas. Marketing is not one of our forte’s and so creating it at the design hub of Jaipur proved to be a good decision. It certainly was the first of its kind: a retail pop-up with the very best in their fields, flower and art installations all over the Narain Niwas, Jaipur-then and now ( a series of photographs by Dharmendra Kanwar and Swati Vashisth) in collaboration with INTACH, a Massage space and tea lounge, live music and an unmatched ambience.

As we move towards the second edition of the show, we are honoured to be collaborating with Tasveer Art Gallery. Journey of a Studio (Bourne & Shephard) is a show put together to celebrate 10 years of their journey and it gives us immense pride to be bringing it to Jaipur. The Exhibition requires us to be in an indoor space and Timmie Kumar, our patron and dear friend is supporting us with an enclosed venue at Clark, apart from unconditional belief that we will create a new experience. For our retail section, the Bee’s Knees we have our friends and supporters in Brigitte Singh, Glenburn Teas, Rasa Jaipur, Help-in-Suffering and Amorio Luxury. We are working with CMYK to curate a book section with only photographic books. Bombay Perfumery comes in with an installation along with their retail as does Aish Life of Kolkatta who is known for her heirloom textiles. Out of The Shed is a product design company that showcased their work at the London Design Show under ‘This is India’. They too are joining us in this escapade.
We will create a bar with small eats for people to linger.
All of this within scenography created with discarded flowers collected after weddings.

we believe special things shouldn’t be shouted from the roof tops but whispered to the right people. Word of mouth will always work for such endeavours more than big advertisements and hoardings. we wanted to sound you out about this and hope to see you at the show in January.
